The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the schedule for the November 2020 CA Exams from 21st Nov. 2020 onwards. It will be 18 days-long exams.
But, the CA Students (including me) are still very much confused about the possibility of Nov. 2020 CA Exams. There are many reasons why CA Students are not yet sure about the Exams and want more clarity on it.
Although, the ICAI has earlier announced that the exams will be on time. But the past experience haunts us. In the past as well ICAI said similar things but eventually what happened, everyone knows.
Therefore, I would like to raise some of the points here that need certain clarification from the ICAI. And, here are they:
1. Rising Covid Cases during November:
I live in Delhi and here state Govt has started again various kinds of restrictions due to the rise in the Corona cases. Delhi govt has even banned the Chhath Puja Celebration (which is on 20th Nov. 2020) due to the fear of rising in the corona cases.
Also, the Home Ministry has conducted with the Delhi CM to consider the ways (including lockdown) to tackle the rising covid cases in Delhi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called a meeting later today at North Block to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in Delhi; Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, and CM Arvind Kejriwal to be present.

Now, the ICAI exams are going to happen from 21st Nov. 2020. And, it’s not about only Delhi but all states across India. Has all permission been taken from various state govts.?? I believe this needs to be clarified officially by the ICAI again before the Nov. 2020 CA exams.
2. Exams Center Issues:
Many students have been issued exams centers in different places instead of the zones they applied for. Many students’ exam centers are in containment zones. Many exam centers are even located in the under-construction building (you can cross-check on the google).
Now, have all exam center issues been sorted by the ICAI? And, ICAI should also give more clarification about the so-called Buffer Exam Centers!
3. Details about the MHA Clarification on Admit Cards E-Pass:
During the Supreme Court hearing, the ICAI mentioned that it would seek the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) permission for considering CA Exams admit cards as E-Pass. This E-pass will help free movement of CA Students. It will also work as the local id and students who are coming from other states can stay using their admit cards.
But once the court case is over, the ICAI has, as always, forgotten the Students. No clarification has been issued in this regard so far.
4. Exam Schedule for Jan/Feb 2021 Exams:
This one particular question is one of the biggest concerns of the CA Students. Many students want to opt-out but as they are not sure whether the exams will happen in Jan/Feb 2021 or not, they are in big confusion.
Instead of clarifying things up, the ICAI is unnecessarily making promises and telling students that YES, Exams in Jan/Feb will happen. But when? It is absolutely unclear. Therefore, both kinds of students who want to appear in Nov. Exams and who wants to appear in Jan/Feb exams are in confusion.
5. States elections:
Some states are about to face the election dates clash with exam dates e.g. Rajasthan, Mizoram, etc. Now, no clarification has also been issued in respect of these issues as well.
For the past many days I have been consistently asking for the doubt clarification from the ICAI. I NEVER ASKED FOR THE EXAM POSTPONEMENT OR CANCELLATIONS. But, Some of our dear intellectual friends are busy criticizing me instead of raising the real doubts of CA Students.
I am trying my level best to raise genuine issues across various platforms. And, for your kind information, I AM A CA FINAL STUDENT AND I DON’T HAVE ANY KIND OF VESTED INTEREST (APART FROM MY LIFE). So, I am just raising whatever I feel correct. You might agree, you might not, but one thing is very clear that simply criticizing me won’t ease the situation.
At last, I would like to say again the same thing as I said in my previous articles that I DO HAVE ABSOLUTE FAITH IN THE ICAI. But at the same time, it’s also the ICAI’s responsibility to address the students properly unlike leaving them unanswered when exams are just a few days away!
Thanks to this platform also who is helping me raise my voice. And, I am wishing all the very best to my peers and all CA students. Hopefully, ICAI comes out very soon with the detailed guidelines/FAQ, etc. officially.
Thanks for reading. Good Luck!
